Loving God,
Forgive us.
This week more than most we have forgotten to love each other as you have loved us.
We have failed to stand up to those who would oppress, we have failed to stand up to systems of injustice.
Lord, may we never forget the name George Floyd.
May his family somehow, some way, find their way to peace in the midst of violence, injustice, and tragedy.
May we all spend time reflecting on our role in the injustices of our world.
May we never settle for blaming “them” alone, but rather see where our hearts and lives need to change.
Lord, help us to take seriously the prayer you taught us.
May your kingdom come
The kingdom free of violence
The kingdom free of racism
The kingdom free from oppression
The kingdom overflowing with love
The kingdom overflowing with forgiveness
The kingdom of the reigning Prince of Peace,
May that Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven, and may we participate in its arrival.
Lord, have mercy.
Amen
