Welcome back to an old J-Blog tradition! Each week, we will comb through the stories shared here on the J-Blog and around the internet to bring you the very finest of offerings. If you think someone else should have been nominated for a star, leave their name/feat of strength in the comments below. Here are this week's winners:
3rd Star: John McCain
John McCain has been under attack by a kind of shark. Republican presidential candidate and Jon Stewart's going away present Donald Trump recently called out McCain for, you know, being a prisoner of war. While I don't want to get into a political debate, Trump is purely entertainment and frankly has no business trying to get the nomination of either party. And wherever you stand on McCain and his politics, heroes are heroes, and McCain is a big one. If you were shot down, taken prisoner, and tortured, I'm sure we can all agree your next move wouldn't be to serve your country further, but that's exactly what McCain did. And while it's not much, the least we can do is give him a third star this week.
2nd Star: Mick Fanning (Shark Destroyer)
Yes. That's absolutely right. He punched a shark in the face. And that said, he still didn't make the top spot this week. How is that possible?
1st Star: The New Wilmington Mission Conference
Yeah, have to go with the whole conference this week. It has been such a joy and an honor to speak to these high school students every night, to hear their thoughts, to see them process what God is doing in their lives. It's been crazy to me to look out over this audience and think about how many lives God is going to touch through each and every student that sits in front of me. If this is the future of the Church, I'm buying in now. But truthfully everyone at the conference was a delight to be with. I'm going to be sad hoping in the car tonight to head back home, even though I've missed my wife and the (now apparently noticeable) kicking twins.
