Welcome back to an old J-Blog tradition! Each week, we will comb through the stories shared here on the J-Blog and around the internet to bring you the very finest of offerings. If you think someone else should have been nominated for a star, leave their name/feat of strength in the comments below. Here are this week's winners:
3rd Star: Pine Springs Camp Counselors
Last week, on Tuesday, I was flat on my bunk feeling like I might die. It had been a long time since I had run my body that hard. I was worn out, tired, and unable to move on. In the midst of that, a thought crossed my mind: these college kids I've been working with have been doing this for 8 weeks, and they have way more energy than I do. Kudos to Zach, Nate, Evan, Eli, Katie, Krysta, Amy, Leigh, and Mae for an awesome week! Now that your summer is over, I hope you're getting some sleep!
2nd Star: Pro Bikes South Hills
Toward the end of that epic ride I wrote about on Wednesday, my rear derailleur was wonky. I didn't want to have wonky bike parts on my way to a 100 mile ride this weekend, so I dropped the bike off with Pro Bikes on Wednesday, and they had it ready for me again on Thursday to do one last training ride. They're also super indulgent of my wandering bike lust, letting me walk around the shop and wish that I had more money to buy a carbon bike.
1st Star: Everyone who donated!
This is your chance to get yourself a first star! Even though the bike is on top of the car, the road bag is packed with jerseys and gatorade and bike tools, and I'm into my NHL goalie-like pre-ride "Please don't talk to me!" session, there is still time to donate to the big ride tomorrow! Click the link here to make a last minute donation. Some folks wanted to stay anonymous in their gifts, so I respect that and simply issue a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who gave to this great cause! If you haven't yet, or are unable to, I'd be really happy to have your prayers tomorrow morning as I take on this challenge!
Note: The J-Blog will be on break next week while I am away on vacation. You'll find other ways to entertain yourself. Much like this video:
