Greetings friends!
Seven years ago, I married the love of my life. We had been together for 7 years before that. I've known my sweet Sarah for more of my life than not. And the entire time that I've known her, she has suffered from Crohn's disease.
Crohn's is a terrible disease. There is no cure. It affects a person's digestive system, and in some cases can be so severe that entire sections of a person's intestines need to be removed. Less severe cases can see remission and flare ups, making life unpredictable at best. Sarah has one of the more mild cases, but that didn't make her teenage years any easier. She missed long swaths of school. She missed important events and meetings. She missed parts of her life.
But things are better. A few years ago, Sarah started a new drug called Humira. She's been in remission for 5 years, which is something we never would have thought possible! It's absolutely incredible. And this drug was made possible in part by the research of the Crohn's and Colitis foundation.
In August, I'm going to ride for them.
I've wanted to participate in this ride forever, but the dates never seemed to work out. This year though, the stars have aligned just right. On August 15th I'll be riding 100 miles through Sandusky Ohio to raise money for Crohn's research. I've never done more than 75 miles in a single day, so this will challenge me to the max physically.
My friends, I need your help. Sarah and I both are extremely passionate about this organization and the incredible work they do. Not only would I like to ride farther than I've ever gone before, I would like to shatter previous fundraising efforts. Please take a moment to visit my fundraising page here. We're looking to raise $1000, $10 for every mile I ride. Every dollar donated is another step closer to finding a cure for Crohn's, and in the meantime making the lives of those struggling with this illness better.
There will be lots of updates between now and August 15th. There will be training updates, pre-game rides, and of course fundraising updates. In the meantime, please share the link to my page with everyone you can!
Together, we can beat Crohn's. Thanks for you support!
