We had an incredible time at the National Youth Workers Convention. The plan to focus entirely on my own soul care was a good one, leading to lots of great insight, ideas, dreams, plans, and adventures. I think probably the most telling sign that something was working was that at the end of the convention I was dreaming about youth ministry again. For a while I had been stuck in a rut, just kind of letting things happen as they needed to happen with school and everything. By the end of the trip I had filled a journal page with new ideas.
As I was walking up to the convention center from the hotel on Sunday, I caught a little scratchy-ness in my throat and was immediately dejected. This always happens. When there's a break of any kind, when I have an opportunity to rest and relax, when my body finally slows down, I end up sick. So much for enjoying the break!
Luckily there is time to rest this week. With the Holiday, I have a bit of a long weekend to put my self back together before a new term of school starts on Tuesday.
Does this happen to you? How do you right yourself when you get a cold?
